ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

The distinctive of this scholarship arrangement is that the scholar is required to maintain a certain Grade Point Average.There are 2 types in this category:

  1. Honors Program

This is awarded to a new student who:

  • graduated with honors from University or Bible School within the last five years or
  • garnered a score of 575 or higher in the ATS English Proficiency Test or
  • had a GPA of 2.0 and above (or equivalent) from a University/College and 1.75 and above from a Bible School.
  • (Proposed change) Had a GPA of 1.75 and above (or equivalent) from a University/College and 1.5 and above from a Bible School.

The scholar needs to maintain a GPA of 1.5 and should not incur a grade lower than 2.0 in any subject.

Required academic load will be 24 units for the whole year.  Scholar may opt to take 9 units per semester and take 6 units during the intersem or summer break.

  1. Academic Grant

This is awarded to a student who has completed at least 9 credit units (excluding Introduction to the Bible, Writing Academic Papers and other English-related subjects) with a GPA of 1.75 and no grade lower than 2.0.

The scholar needs to maintain a GPA of 1.75 and should not incur a grade lower than 2.0 in any subject.

Required academic load will be 24 units for the whole year.  Scholar may opt to take 9 units per semester and take 6 units during the intersem or summer break.

Eligibility

  • In need of financial assistance
  • Engaged in full-time ministry or a related kind of work
  • Endorsed by sending organization or church
  • Committed to finish a degree program at ATS
  • Willingness to comply with the requirements of ATS and the donors.

Requirements
A. Letter of Request for financial assistance
B. Completely filled out Scholarship Application form
C. Two 2×2 photograph
D. Brief account of ministry calling and personal mission and vision
E. Written commitment affirming desire to return and minister in one’s country, church or organization after finishing the program
F. Letter of Endorsement from sending church or organization describing current membership status, present ministries and future plans for the scholar after finishing the program.

G .Subscription to the Scholarship Covenant of Understanding and Agreement.The above-mentioned scholarship types are the only existing schemes available to ATS students.

 

CHRISTIAN WORKER SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship scheme’s primary targets are:

Christian workers in need of financial assistance:

  • from rural and urban poor areas
  • engaged in community development
  • international students

This is a non-academic scholarship in the sense that the scholar will not be required to maintain a superior GPA to be retained in the program.  Instead, the scholar will be closely supervised by the sending church or organization in partnership with ATS.  The said partner church or organization must have an established relationship with ATS.  The commitment to return to the sending church/organization/country agreement will have more stringent measures.

The aim of this program is to equip Christian workers that are distinctively disadvantaged in terms of finances and options for sourcing of funds is limited or non-existent.  But they are actively involved in full-time ministry, specifically, community development.

Required academic load will be 24 units for the whole year.  Scholar may opt to take 9 units per semester and take 6 units during the intersem or summer break.

Eligibility

  • In need of financial assistance. (For Filipinos – this should be verified and substantiated)
  • (For Philippine citizens) Engaged in community development, ministry to a marginalized sector or church context is with the financially poor.
  • (International students) Involved in church ministry, community development or ministry to the marginalized sector.
  • Endorsed by sending organization or church
  • Committed to finish a degree program at ATS
  • Willingness to comply with the requirements of ATS and the donors

Requirements

Same requirements as above (letter. A-E)

  • Written commitment affirming desire to return and minister in one’s country, church or organization after finishing the program, including a clause that he/she will serve said country, church or organization for at least 3 years. Otherwise, said student will have to pay for the whole cost of the ATS scholarship.
  • Letter of Endorsement from sending church or organization describing current membership status, present ministries and future plans for the scholar after finishing the program.
  • Subscription to the Scholarship Covenant of Understanding and Agreement.
  • MOA with sending church or organization detailing ministry and scholastic activities (i.e. research focus, internship area, participation in the theo forum) for the duration of the scholar’s studies.
  • Subscription to the Scholarship Covenant of Understanding and Agreement.

ALUMNI CONTINUING STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship program aims to encourage ATS alumni to return and pursue further studies.  The scheme also targets the children of ATS alumni.  The grant will only cover a portion of the tuition fee.

  • 70% – ATS Alumni
  • 50% – Children of Alumni

The assumption here is that the ATS alumni has a stable source of income after graduating from ATS with a Master’s degree.

Eligibility

  • ATS graduate of any degree program (excluding certificate programs)
  • Engaged in full-time ministry or a related kind of work
  • Endorsed by sending organization or church
  • Willingness to comply with the requirements of ATS and the donors.

Requirements

  • Completely filled out Scholarship Application form
  • Two 2×2 photograph
  • Brief update of current ministry and future plans
  • Letter of Endorsement from sending church or organization
  • Subscription to the Scholarship Covenant of Understanding and Agreement.

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR

The ATS President shall have the sole privilege of granting this scholarship grant to any incoming or existing student.  Eligibility and requirements will be under the discretion of the President.

A fixed amount shall be set aside for each academic year for this scholarship scheme.  Unused portion may be carried over and added to the following year’s fund.  The President may also re-allocate the funds to other scholarship scheme categories.
